Rev. Rose Brown was employed by the State of Florida for over twenty years serving in capacities which included Public Assistance Specialist I & II, Public Assistance Supervisor, and Quality Control Analyst for the Office of the Inspector General. She retired from the State of Florida due to serious health problems. This intensified a journey she was on to draw closer to the Lord; to know Him, to worship Him, to seek the knowledge of why the church appeared powerless in this present age. 

Brown said, "'I felt a disconnection from spiritual things. There was a lack of understanding of things divine. I needed more of God. I was consumed by His WORD AND READ THE Bible almost constantly. I was in a desert place. I needed God; I couldn't find him. I understood what David meant when he said in Psalms 51:11(NKJV), "'Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me." 

In November of 2008, as Pastor Gerard Moss, Sr., told the congregation to turn to their neighbor and speak into their lives, Christ spoke into hers. Rev. Rose Brown preached her initial sermon on January 27, 2008 supported by her biological family, St. Paul A.M. E. family, and friends from the surrounding communities. 

Always a person who believed in THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE, Rev. Brown enrolled in Asbury Theological Seminary pursuing a Master of Divinity Degree. Phyllis graduated from Asbury Seminary on May 12, 2012. She was ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.C.) by Bishop Adam Jefferson Richardson, Jr. on September 27, 2012.  On the day after her ordination, the Bishop assigned her as Pastor of Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lake Helen, FL. The church grew both spiritually and physically under her leadership. 

Rose Brown was appointed Christian Education Director in the Central Conference of the 11th Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church during the 2013-2014 Conference Year. She also pastored at Greater Mt. Olive A.M.E.C. in Merritt Island, FL before being assigned to Historic New Bethel A.M.E. Church in Ormond Beach, FL on September 30, 2016.  One week after being assigned to Historic New Bethel, Hurricane Matthew, a category 5 hurricane wreaked havoc on the parsonage, original church, and present sanctuary. The Lord used Rose Brown to lead the campaign to replace a twenty-five-foot steeple and three roofs without insurance and without a loan.  The Lord is a very present help in the times of trouble. 

On October 2, 2020, God and Bishop Adam J. Richardson, Jr. appointed Brown to pastor the church she has wanted to pastor for many years, Grant Chapel A.M.E. in Oviedo, FL.  Since Brown has been pastor the church has full coverage insurance, a security camera system which covers the whole campus, and a new air conditioner system in the sanctuary. Pastor Brown loves teaching and preaching God’s Word, and thanks the Lord for the saints at Grant Chapel who have a hunger to Study God’s Word.  A perfect match from the Lord.  Her favorite Scripture is from Acts 17:28 (ESV)” for in Him we live and Move and have our being; as some of His own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed His offspring.’  Her focus is to learn more of Christ every day; seeking to teach all she learns to those who have a hunger and thirst to know the Lord.
